Here are some cakes I've made

These are just some of the cakes I have made in the last few years. I still have others but I need to find their pictures. As soon as I do I'll be sure and add those. The majority of these cakes I made completely on my own. There are a few where someone helped me. You'll be able to tell the ones when I started out and then the ones that are recent because of the degree of quality. Enjoy!

Dove Chocolate Discoveries--Do I Have to say Goodbye?

Hi everyone. I'm feeling kind of down today about the Dove Chocolate business. My last party was at the end of January for crying out loud. I have done so many things like advertise in a newspaper and carry catalogs with me and pass them out to people in the public whenever the opportunity arose.

A couple of months ago I was wondering about this business and had a clear understanding from God that I was not to give up on it yet. He provided me with return customer business, and helped me in other ways to show me to keep going on. Now I'm wondering if I'm getting the message that my time is ending. That would be really sad because I now have two people on my team--one in Hutchinson and one in Wichita.

I know with the economy in this town and all of the already happened layoffs and more potential layoffs to come, that people just don't want to spend money on chocolate right now and I can't blame them because I wouldn't either.

Dove Chocolate may be making the decision for me, because if I don't have a $200 party by the end of June, they are going to terminate my position with the company. I'm not the type of person who will pressure people into having a party for me--I just won't do it because I don't like to be pressured into having parties for people.

I'm already praying for wisdom and guidance, and I'm asking if you would please do the same for me. If I have to give it up, yeah, I'll be sad, but that just means that God has other things for me to do. But, at the same time, maybe something "miraculous" will happen in June!

I'm still figuring out all of this "blog stuff"

I just want to say a big thanks to my lovely friend Annetta who saw my last blog post and gave me step by step instructions on how to incorporate music into my blog! Now you can hear the Casting Crowns Lifesong automatically when you log in, along with another song I'm a fan of.

There is still so much I'm trying to figure out, but my husband has told me I have to trial and error things for a while before I can call on anyone to help me. I'm going to try to create a slide show of pictures, and just incorporate more pictures altogether. Some people have borders around their pictures, and I don't have a clue how they did that. There is just too much for my computer illiterate brain to fathom. But, I'm going to persist.

Roger will be teaching classes at Wichita Area Tech College this summer, and because of him doing that immediate family members get to take courses free! He's thinking it might be a good idea for me to take a computer class, and I'm thinking he's probably right!

In the meantime, I'm going to see what computer blog things I can figure out on my own, but those of you who have blogs, don't be surprised if you get an email from me next week asking how you did certain things to fancy up your blog pages. And for those of you really know me and my unlove for computers--stop laughing and shaking your heads!

What does Merrimans Lifesong mean anyway?

I love the Christian music group Casting Crowns! Their music speaks personally to me each time I listen to it. One of their cds actually helped me through a rough time in my life 3 years ago......

For his job, Roger had to go to Independence KS on Sunday night or Monday morning and would not get back to Wichita until Thursday night. Then on Friday, he had to go to the office here in town all day. Then on the weekends, he had work to do at home. This was never ending for 6 1/2 months!!!!

Evan turned 5 during this time, and Lauren turned 2. They weren't affected by this situation at all. But boy was I! I can't tell you how difficult this was on me and one way I got through it was by listening to worship music, and, you guessed it, especially Casting Crowns. I fell in love with so many of their songs, but Lifesong seemed to become my anthem and represent all that I wanted my life for Christ to be about. It impacted me so much that Lifesong became the name of our home school!

I don't know if I can legally post the lyrics, or even if there is a way to post the song onto my blog, but if you want to hear it, go to klove.com; music; lyrics; and type in lifesong, and it will come up and you can see the lyrics or listen to a sample of it there.

So, anyway, that is what Merrimans Lifesong is all about!

What? Rebecca is doing a blog?

I can't believe it myself, but yes, I am going to attempt to keep a blog. For anyone who knows me, I do not get along with computers--I don't understand how most things work on the computer, and so this makes me really dislike them. So, you can be sure that whenever you are visiting this blog, Roger has helped me a lot.

I kept telling my friends over and over that I will never do a blog--who has the time? I couldn't believe how they could keep a blog updated sometimes daily with pictures even! But, lately I have realized the value of a blog. It's a great way to record what goes on in our lives and let friends and family be a part of that. It might even be a great way to make sure I take more pictures of our family doing stuff, but then I'll have to keep up on my scrapbooking......aye, aye, aye! What have I gotten myself into? Only time will tell!
