Our Tree Topper

Do you see our pretty Christmas tree? Can you see what the topper is?

Here's a close-up view...it's a pheasant feather from the bird Roger shot while hunting!

New House Siding

Roger began changing the siding on our house. The first picture shows the old vertical white siding. The second pic shows the new horizontal siding. The third pic shows both sidings--I just love the look of the new. The porch area is all he will probably get completed until spring, but it's a great start. The new siding is not painted, but it is actually the neutral tan color we are considering painting the house, so I think our house is going to look fabulous!

Space Derby

Tonight at the Cub Scout pack meeting, they had the space derby. This is the first time they've had this, and it was pretty fun. The scouts made rockets that ran with wound up rubber bands. Evan raced against 3 other Webelos, and came in second. Only those who came in first got to continue. His rocket was painted gold and black--New Orleans Saints football colors--not sure why he chose that considering we are a household that roots for the Broncos.
Evan's rocket is the one closest to you--can you see what a close race it was between 1st and 2nd place?

Yea Lauren!

Last week at our homeschool YMCA class, I was watching Lauren during her swimming lessons and am so happy I snapped this picture. She went down the slide a couple of times on her instructor's lap, and when they got to the bottom, she would plug her nose and the instructor would dunk her under the water and pull her back out. All of this is a huge swimming milestone for Lauren. It is so exciting when you get to see your kids grow in an area they are struggling with!

Family Pics

It'd been 2 years since we had a family picture taken, so I wanted to this year. There is a young woman from our former church who has decided to do this as a job, and she kept posting all of her pics on facebook, and I thought they were fabulous! So, I contacted her to ask the detailed questions and we decided we wanted her to take our pics. She was wonderful to work with. Our family chose Sedgwick County Park for the background, and she traveled there, snapped many, many pics for us all around the park, then put them all on a disc and gave us permission to own them all! I will post some--some I really like, and some that are funny, but there were so many more. Also, it had to have been the windiest day in history, but we laughed and decided it would make our photo shoot even that much more memorable!

In pic above, Lauren was keeping a close eye on the ducks and geese that were around!

Look at my hair--thank you again, KS wind!

Harvest Party 2010

These are the costumes the kids chose to wear for Harvest Party this year. It was another huge success at our church with over 3,000 people attending. Roger helped with parking again, and they even were able to use a couple of other churches parking lots and transport people via bus to our church once our parking lot was full. The weather was warm and I was so glad for Roger's sake because last year he was all bundled up in a coat, hat, and gloves. Didn't have to worry about that this time. He worked it for about 1 1/2 hours and then was able to join up with us. The kids and I got there right when the event started and were able to breeze through all of the activities. Then when it was extremely crowded, we were able to sit down and enjoy some food and not have to fight the crowds. Perfect timing!
