We got to go with Roger again to Missouri. For a couple of nights we were in Washington, a couple of nights in St. Louis, and one night in Kansas City. Again, rented a car, and hardly spent any money for activities.
In Washington we discovered they have an aquatics park so we spent a few hours there. It was so nice and definitely rivals any area YMCA water parks. For the kids and I to get in--a whole whopping total of $9!
In St. Louis we wanted to go up the Arch, but were having a problem finding close parking and lots of signs and advice about needing to purchase tickets ahead of time in case they were sold out. How awful would it have been to pay for parking only to find out there were no more tickets for the Arch? We decided not to take that chance. The kids and I were planning on going to the zoo, but it was so hot we opted for an indoor activity--the children's museum called The Magic House. It is THE best children's museum I have ever been to. We were there for a total of 5 hours and it was definitely worth the price we had to pay for admission. I have several pics from the museum in my slide show, but there were so many rooms activities that I didn't get pictures of.
In Kansas City we stayed in the Hyatt Regency on the 31st floor. I've never ever stayed in a hotel like this before. The elevators shoot you up so fast that every time it came to a stop my ears would pop like when on an airplane. We were able to go to the Crown Plaza mall a couple of times just by walking through the enclosed Sky Links above the downtown streets.
I am so glad we got to get out of town again. It's nice to get away even if you don't do too much touristy activities. The kids were once again happy just to swim mostly. It was another great time.
We went to the Magic House on our St. Louis trip 16 yrs ago. It was delightful then. I'm sure it's even better now.
ReplyDeleteSo 16 yrs makes me realize that we should try to go there again so L&E can see all the sights of St. Louis. It was one of our most memorable family trips.
